The First Post is Shit, too.

Welcome to my little screenwriting corner of the World Wide Web. Tommorow, May 1st, I will start working on my second of eight screenplays for the 101 Tasks in 1001 Days project, so today I decided to create a new blog dedicated to screenwriting stuff. I think it all started with those little progress bars, or maybe it was all the screenwriting blogs that I've been visiting lately. Whatever it was, something planted the seed for me to give my screenwriting a little extra attention, to treat it more like a passion and not just another task to accomplish on the 101 project.

I'll use this site to track my screenwriting progress, to rant when my muse goes on vacation without me, and to celebrate when my muse and I are dancing in synch. It will be a journal of sorts, a place to gather my favorite screenwriting info, and... I'll figure the rest out as I go.

The title "The First Draft is Shit!" may sound crude, but the words are actually the most freeing words I've ever read. Learning that even Ernest Hemingway's first drafts were always shit gave me permission to write shit, too. Once you have it down on paper you can begin the task of making it unshit-like, but it has to get down on paper first. With that said, REwriting SUCKS, I hate it, so I try to work out as many story problems as I can before I start to write. Even so, the first draft is still shit! But hey, I'm learning that even a shitty story is better then no story at all.
